What do I do if I break my braces?

If part of your braces becomes loose or broken, please call as soon as the damage is noticed and give us a description of the problem, even if this is just a day before your next appointment. We often reschedule your appointment to give us sufficient time to correct the problem and do a regular adjustment, so as not to inconvenience following patients. Specific times during the week in school hours are set-aside for patients with damaged braces.

If the breakage is causing pain, use the orthodontic wax that has been provided to you to cover the protruding wire or brace. For best results, we suggest drying the area with a soft cloth first. If you are in immediate need of relief, you can cut the protruding wire yourself if you feel comfortable doing so.

What do I do if I lose or break my retainer?

If your upper or lower retainer is lost of broken, please advise us as soon as possible. It is very important that this repair is undertaken quickly to reduce the risk of tooth movement.
